 Gap Hill Vineyard specialises in quality Verdelho. Gap Hill Verdelho is dry, fresh, fruity and flavoursome – and popular!

Our customers seem to come from the small refined market that seeks elegance and quality in wines exhibiting subtle differences to the “main-stream”.

Gap Hill Verdelho

While there are fascinating subtle differences between each year’s vintage of Gap Hill Verdelho, we maintain our commitment to producing a Verdelho that has been described as:-

“very pale straw in appearance, spotlessly clean on the nose, with nice varietal aromatics, showing good depth of tropical fruit. The palate is nicely balanced with good fruit and acid, finishing clean.”

We find that the Stroud “Terroir” is just right for producing quality Verdelho. We continue to pay careful attention to soil, microclimate and vineyard management so that our artful winemaker receives quality hand-picked grapes each February.
Our winemaker is David Fatches whose combination of Australian and international winemaking experience makes a perfect fit with our drive for quality and distinctiveness. David’s commitment to a slow and cool fermentation ensures that Gap Hill Verdelho retains maximum fruit flavour when fermented to dryness.

Our Hunter Region is known for its distinctive Verdelhos. Our northern Stroud Verdelho tends towards gentleness compared to the fuller style of the more southerly Pokolbin Verdelhos. 

Locale

Gap Hill Vineyard is north of the Hunter River and nestled among the foothills of the breathtaking
Barrington Tops.

Our boutique winery is beside the Bucketts Way just 7 kms north of picturesque and historic Stroud. Stroud was settled in 1826 and retains its quaint village atmosphere and its Cotswold character.

Gap Hill Vineyard is an entry point for a local wine trail that makes travelling between the Pacific Highway, Gloucester and the Barrington Tops all that more special.

Gap Hill Wine Club

When you join our Gap Hill Wine Club you will automatically receive a two-bottle-pack of the most recent vintage of Gap Hill Verdelho once per year free of freight anywhere in eastern NSW immediately upon its release while ever your membership remains current.
